Education projects funded by the Mosehla Foundation

The Foundation annually selects Grade 12 learners from schools in Tembisa, for the after-school readiness mentorship program or sponsorship towards post-matric studies.

Meet our 1st Graduate - Thapelo Chalatsi (Chaps)

Raised by his unemployed single mother and the youngest of four siblings, Chaps matriculated from Jiyana Senior Secondary School in Tembisa in 2010. Chaps achieved distinctions in Physical Science, Mathematics, and Life Orientation and excelled in drama and chess. Despite his intellectual ability that suggested a bright future, his family was unable to meet the financial obligations tertiary education would force on them.

With financial support from the Tiger Brands Ikusasa Lami Program, a project that identifies and support young talent to meet skills shortages, Chaps was able to register at the University of Pretoria and commenced with a BSc Chemistry degree. He was still reliant on the financial support from friends and former educators to meet day to day costs whilst applying for bursaries. Brian and Caron Mosehla heard about his challenging circumstances and after an in-depth interview agreed to finance his studies.

Chaps completed his Honours degree in 2014 and is currently enrolled in a Graduate Trainee Program and he plans to enrol for a Master’s Degree in Business Administration soon.

Mabatho Kwebu – our 2017 Bursary Student

The Mosehla Foundation is proud to announce the selection of Mabatho as the 2017 beneficiary of our Post Matric Study Assistance Programme.

Born and raised in Tembisa, Mabatho matriculated from Ivory Park Secondary School in 2016 with five distinctions and she has a profound interest in Languages and Physical Science. She is the youngest of three siblings, supported by their single mom.

Despite her academic achievements at school, her excitement to enrol at University was soon fading due to lack in financial means. A community member, Mr Molodi, informed her about the Foundation’s Study Assistance Programme aimed at exceptional students and she was selected out of a remarkable group of students.

She is currently enrolled at the University of the Witwatersrand and is studying towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and will focus on Secondary School Science education.
