About Thandulwazi

Thandulwazi (which means “love of learning”) is a national, donor-funded educational upliftment programme founded by St Stithians College. Its purpose is to expand access to high-quality learning in mathematics, science, English and accounting for learners in under-resourced schools across Gauteng and beyond.

Through four main pillars, Thandulwazi works to strengthen both learners and teachers

1

Saturday School Programme

Extra classes on Saturday mornings for Grades 9–12 learners, offering support in core subjects and helping to bridge gaps in their formal schooling.

2

Intern-Teacher Training Programme

Training new teachers, especially in areas of critical shortage, so that teaching capacity in Maths, Science, English and Early Childhood Education can grow in historically underserved communities.

3

Teacher Development Programme

Upskilling current teachers and school leaders in disadvantaged areas to strengthen pedagogical skills, especially in gateway subjects.

4

Academic Scholarship Programme

Offering scholarships to talented learners from underprivileged schools, enabling them to attend St Stithians and fully tap their potential in math and science.
